WATER QUALITY REPORT FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2016
We are happy to report that our drinking water meets or exceeds federal and state requirements. Last year we conducted tests for more than 80 contaminants. ANNUAL DOG LICENSING
Pick up your FREE dog tags the first week of January. Dog Licensing is an annual registration and the first week of January the tag is FREE! The City Office will be open Tuesday, January 3rd at 9 AM and tags will be given away until Monday, January 9th. Last March the city council changed dog licensing to an annual registration. They also changed the fees for dog tags to $5 for an altered (spayed or neutered) dog and $10 for an unaltered dog. This pricing is less than what it used to be. There is also some special pricing for Senior Citizens and Guide dogs. That pricing is $3. The new pricing will begin January 10th. Each year the dog tag will be different in design and color. Please make sure you are following the city's new ordinance, 6.08.020, and pick up your new dog tag for 2017 at the city offices, 420 N Bridge St.
The city wants to remind everyone it is unlawful for any person to hinder or interfere with any person engaged in snow removal for the city. City Code 8.21.404 says it is unlawful for any person to remove snow from private or public property and place it adjacent to or upon the public street in such a manner as to interfere with snow removal by the city or with vehicle traffic. Some winters it is difficult to figure out where to put all the snow but, whatever you do, you can't put it in the streets. The plow will only come along and plow it right back into your driveway. Let's all be good neighbors and help each other out by assisting where we can to make snow removal an easier task for everyone. The city will attempt to do most of the plowing in the evenings, after most people have gone home for the day. This is safer for everyone. It doesn't interfere with businesses during the day and there are fewer vehicles on the road. Please find a place to park your vehicle off the streets. Winter Parking Regulations (10.40.030) says, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle so as to impede snow removal on city streets from November 1 through March 1 between ten p.m. and six a.m. Sign up for "AlertSense" and be notified when the city will be plowing. AlertSense will send free automatic weather notifications to you. You can find AlertSense on the Fremont County's web site. Be prepared for winter and winter driving. Roads are icy and slick and require extra care and slower travel. Give yourself extra time to get where you are going, wear your seatbelt and arrive safely.
